The collection, commissioned by the French fashion brand, includes tables, chairs, side tables, an armchair and a daybed.
Each piece is made from either solid ash, walnut or Australian blackwood, and adopts the designer’s signature minimal aesthetic through the use of beige-toned hide from Kvadrat Maharam‘s leather collection.
“[The collection] focuses on quality, natural materials, and longevity,” said Fereday.
For the seating, Fereday customised some of his existing collections – namely the Bow, Pieman, and Hull chairs.
The Hull lounge chair, named after the body of a boat, was inspired by traditional vessel-building techniques. It is made from a single piece of wood.
The bow chair is fixed together using dado joints, which are designed to be visible to show the furniture’s construction, while the Pieman features a sheet of leather suspended across the backrest and seat.
Fereday was born in Australia, but grew up in England, where he studied at London’s Wimbledon School of Art. He moved to Sydney to complete his studies in industrial design, before founding his own studio in 2012.
Since then, he has gone on to create for a number of brands and studios, including new label SP01, which showcased his Wire chair as part of an exhibition of Australian design at this year’s Milan design week.
More recently, Fereday worked alongside artist Susan Chen to create a delicately ridged pendant light, which was 3D-printed from one piece of extruded clay.
